1964 Bentley S3 Continental Fixed Head Coupé

Coachwork by Mulliner Park Ward

We are delighted to be offering this elegant 1964 Bentley Continental S3 Mulliner Park Ward Fixed Head Coupe. This particular S3 was supplied by Weybridge Autos to FJL Green Esq in February 1964 and began its life here in Great Britain, shortly after this, the car relocated to California where it remained until 1982 covering an indicated 82,000 miles. In early 1982 the S3 found itself on the way to Australia to be united with Its new Antipodean custodian, renowned Rolls-Royce & Bentley specialist Robert McDermott. Remaining in Australia the car was sold in late 1982 to a Mr. Bowen who kept the car until 1996 when it returned to McDermot for a second time, the odometer reading 98,140 at the time. The S3 remained in Australia until 2015 when it made the long journey back to its birthplace here in Great Britain.

One of only a handful of right-hand drive models to be bodied by the renowned Mulliner Park Ward and was finished in a striking Caribbean Blue, which it retains to this day. The original red leather upholstery also remains, adding to the car’s timeless charm and elegance. As one can imagine, a car that cost more than an Aston Martin DB5 or Ferrari 250 Lusso, the S3 came well-equipped as standard, but some notable optional extras that Mr. Green had opted for on this particular example are, a speedometer calibrated in both miles and kilometres, a Hirschmann electric aerial, and electric windows, air-conditioning, blue Sundym glass, and combined brake and indicator lights

This Bentley Continental S3 has been well-loved and well-maintained throughout its lifetime and shows just 120,000 miles from new. More recent additions include a full-length Webasto roof, twin cooling fans, headlight upgrade, suspension set-up, hydraulic tappet overhaul, sundry re-chroming, replacement heater matrix, and refurbished electric window motors, among other things. The brake pipes have been routed inside the car, while a hi-torque starter motor and twin electric fans are sensible concessions to modern traffic. In the last 6 months, the S3 has undergone significant recent expenditure with renowned marque specialists Bensport in Ilminster, ensuring the car’s readiness for a new custodian.
