2004 Jaguar XJ 4.2 LWB Sovereign

Remarkable History – Rare Gentleman’s Express

2004 Jaguar XJ 4.2 LWB Sovereign

We are delighted to be offering a simply resplendent example of an increasingly popular ‘Modern Classic’ with a fantastic and unique history. More than 20 years since its release the X350 XJ’s are really coming into their own, being very light on their feet given their full aluminium construction whilst being one of the most comfortable and composed cars in their price bracket without a shadow of a doubt.

This example was delivered on the 30th September 2004 to Cartier New Bond Street Ltd. via Stratstone Of Mayfair Jaguar. The XJ L would return to them every year until 2013 for a service as documented in its original service booklet, after this a number of reputable Jaguar specialists have cared for the car with the most recent service costing nearly £3,000. In 2016 the XJ L suffered engine failure due to overheating, so the custodian instructed R.A. Creamer & Son to replace the entire motor along with radiator and ancillaries at a cost of £12,000. The engine has completed less than 10,000 miles since replacement and the odometer was not zeroed.

Our XJ L spent most of its life chauffeuring the Director and Executive Chairman of Cartier (who’s initials are still on the numberplate today) around London, Paris and Saint-Tropez. This was until it was gifted by him to his lifelong friend and driver, whom we were able to procure the car from. The car has charm and character by the bucketload, finished in black on black with a red pinstripe on the exterior as well as red piping it is surely unique in its specification. Currently showing only 67,800 miles on the odometer, a full history file and a special story – It will be hard to let it go!
